Citizenship

SEEKING CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP ?

To begin your journey towards Canadian citizenship, there are several conditions you must meet:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in either English or French, which are Canada’s official languages.
  2. Hold a Permanent Resident (PR) status.
  3. Have resided in Canada for at least 1,095 days during the last five years.
  4. Ensure you’ve filed your taxes for a minimum of three years within the previous five years and cleared any pending income tax.

If one of your parents held Canadian citizenship at your birth, you may already be a Canadian citizen, depending on your birthdate. In such cases, to officially gain recognition as a Canadian citizen, you must apply for proof of citizenship.

However, you are ineligible for Canadian citizenship if you’re currently incarcerated, on parole or probation, serving a conditional sentence, or have been charged or convicted of an indictable crime. Similarly, if you’re under a deportation order, your application will be disqualified.

Upon successful acceptance of your application, you’ll be required to take a citizenship test. Exceptions are made for applicants under 18 or over 54 years of age.

Feel free to contact Alexander Immigration Services Inc. to determine your eligibility and receive support in obtaining your Canadian citizenship.
