Canada’s International Student Program: Major Reforms Announced on Jan 22, 2024
1. Spousal open work permits will soon be limited to master’s and doctoral programs.
2. 35% cut in international study permits; total reduced to 364,000.
3. Provinces allocate study permits based on their population.
4. Masterโs program graduates will soon be eligible for 3-year work permits.
5. Attestation letters from provinces required for study permits from Jan 22, 2024, with issuance processes ready by March 31, 2024.
6. Starting Sep 1, 2024, no more postgraduate work permits for students who graduate from Private Career Colleges operating under Public College-Private Partnerships
