The Intra Company Transfer (ICT) Work permit is a popular immigration program among foreign entrepreneurs interested in expanding their business into Canada. Through this program, entrepreneurs can temporarily immigrate to Canada on a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exempt work permit and later apply for permanent residence after one year of employment in the Canadian enterprise.
The following essential criteria have to be met to be eligible to apply under this program:
- The enterprise outside Canada and the Canadian enterprise must have a relationship either as a parent, subsidiary, branch or, affiliate.
- The individual being transferred must have been employed for at least one year in a similar full-time executive, managerial or specialized knowledge position.
- The enterprise outside Canada should be financially able to support the Canadian enterprise during its initial setup and operations.
