Work permit extension for International students with a PGWP

January 8, 2021

The Toronto Star is reporting that the Government of Canada is set to launch a temporary policy extending international students’ post-graduate work permits (PGWP) by another 18 months. This will enable the work permit holders to try and obtain the required experience they need to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class.

“This new policy means that young students from abroad who have studied here, can stay and find work while ensuring that Canada meets the urgent needs of our economy for today and tomorrow,” Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino told the Star.
